This week was a little less emotional than last week amidst the COVID-19 deaths and panicky feelings.
In the eating department I seem to have done okay. I tried to make calamari but I can’t say I liked it very much. A few years ago I developed a calamari allergy and I guess I am still scared of it. But I had a deep lus for it and I found some cheap calamari, so I went for it.
My mom however still makes the best calamari, oh and The Lighthouse. Lol!
I made a beautiful tender and succulent chicken breast with a smoortjie and topped with cheese. I enjoyed that very much. Salmon has quickly become my favourite fish. I pan fry it. It is an oily fish so you don’t need to use any additional oil, just a non-stick pan and you are ready to go!
I also discovered cooking certain proteins really quickly on high heat leaves them soft and tender. Chicken and prawns are awesome this way – just in and out.
I couldn’t understand why when I have a smoothie I become hungry so quickly, until Meike explained to me that when you blend up fruit it breaks down the fibre in the fruit. Fibre is what keeps us full and therefore I become hungry so quickly. Quite an eye opener.
I’m starting week 5 today.
The accountability in the program is what I love the most and that you can ask Meike anything, a recipe or how to cook something. She explains it so well and you know what? It is insight and information you will always have. I once again learnt this week that you don’t need expensive pills and shakes and things to feel good and look good. I am in the best shape of my life and it’s all thanks to will power, dedication and information
